48 Students In a Classroom?

April 7, 2008

Eight years of my life I had the honor of teaching at a middle and high school level. I say honor because these are the leaders of our future and I’ve been priviliged to impact this future. My wife is still a teacher today and I found it quite disturbing to learn about the cuts that are affecting our schools today. These cuts are creating a ripple effect that we will all feel very soon. I was just speaking with my wife and she shared that one of her classrooms will have 48 students in ONE class. Interestingly enough, the classroom only holds enough seats for 36. Regardless of how they pull off the room for these students, the effect of having these many bodies in one classroom will affect every student’s education. There can not possibly be as much personalized attention, resources will be scarce, and the results of all this… our society will suffer the consequences.

I encourage you to take a look at the video below and learn about what is happening in our California schools right now and help make a difference.

February 20, 2008

Kids Korps USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth volunteer organization that engages young people, ages 5 through 18, in community service. Our mission is to instill in America’s youth the spirit of giving while providing valuable education in leadership and responsibility. Kids Korps partners with more than 250 national and local non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Head Start Preschools, children’s hospitals, homeless shelters, senior centers, animal shelters and environmental agencies.

Kids Korps offers more than 1,000 hands-on service opportunities each year, bringing lasting benefits to the community and developing leaders for life through youth volunteerism.

Children have more to give than many realize – their talents, their time, and most of all, their hearts. Our kids make a difference in the lives of others, and their own, through volunteerism, check out Teaching Kids to Care for more information.

World Freedom Train – Harmonizing Humanity

September 26, 2007

Here is a man whose cause has touched my heart and I trust he will do the same for you. Bob Wolfe, is the man who back in the mid 80’s coordinated the entire world to come together for about 7 minutes. This phenomenal event was possible through having radio stations around the world play “We are the world” at the same time. For one moment in time the entire world came together as one. What a powerful event (many of whom I share this story with tell me they remember that moment), as do I.

Why am I telling you this? Simply because he is back and taking that vision to the next level. I want you to invite you to learn about it for yourself.

Press here to view a minute video sharing the event and how you can help make a difference.

I trust your heart will be touched and you will contribute in the way that is most appropriate for you.

Blessings and create an amazing and loving day.
